A man has been jailed for eight years after he pleaded guilty to a charge of selling counterfeit medicines.
A court in Canberra sentenced Mr Gorman to four years of community service alongside a jury.
He was sentenced to eight months of community service alongside a jury for three years.
At 12 years of age, Mr Gorman, who worked as a pharmacist in an overseas drugstore, bought tadalafil, which contained the active ingredient tadalafil, from a wholesaler in Sydney. The drug, which was marked as ‘Tadalafil for use in men’, was supplied to customers from a pharmacy in Melbourne. Mr Gorman was also a pharmacist in an overseas drugstore.
When the drug was being supplied to customers from an overseas pharmacy, he had the tablets labelled as being ‘Tadalafil for use in men’ and had to hand them a box of counterfeit Tadalafil tablets. When he took the box to his home address, he bought the fake tablets without his supervision.
Mr Gorman, from the NSW Department of Health, was also sentenced to three years in jail for selling counterfeit medicines, which contained the active ingredient tadalafil.
